Acupuncture diagram

Acupuncture is a key part of the ancient practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, the human body has hundreds of acupuncture points connected by meridians. These meridians net create an energy (Qi) flow through the body that is responsible for overall wellbeing. Disruption or block of this energy (Qi) flow can cause diseases.

Acupuncture therapy can release blocked Qi in the body and stimulate function, evoking the body’s natural healing response through various physiological systems. Modern research has demonstrated acupuncture’s effects on the nervous system, endocrine and immune systems, cardiovascular system, and digestive system. By stimulating the body’s various systems, acupuncture can improve and stimulates the flow of Qi, resolve pain, improve sleep, digestive function, thereby improving health and overall wellbeing.

How does acupuncture treatment look like?

At the beginning of the treatment, the physician examines the patient’s medical history and current symptoms. He then makes a diagnosis through pulse and tongue examination. After that he set up a treatment plan which is specific to the patient’s health problem.

The physician will insert sterilized super- thin needles to the patient’s acupuncture points and leaves them in about half an hour. Insertion of the needles does not painful but rather causes a special feel which called “de qui”. After half an hour, the physician removes all needles and leaves the patient rest for a few minutes. After the treatment, patients often report that they feel more energized and more relaxed. They can go home and work as usual.

How does acupuncture affect the body?

Acupuncture, by stimulating the energy flow, is also affirmed to stimulate the central nervous system. It is shown to release endorphins and other chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and the brain. These biochemical changes in turns stimulate the body’s natural healing abilities and promote physical and emotional well-being.
